1) Islam as a whole is a religion of peace at least as an ideal. The way that many Islamists see it is that there should be violence, if necessary, as a goal to attain that ideal.

2) Such sects as Sufi and Ismaili (the latter an offshoot of Shia) Islam are truly religions of peace and totally renounce terror. Similarly, there are entire ethnic groups that are Muslim (e.g. Circassians – despite being historically warlike) that are quite moderate and haven’t embraced Islamism in a big way if at all.

3) In the first few hundred years of the history of Islam, there was much tolerance (at least relatively) on the part of many Muslims towards people of other faiths, and these Muslims contributed much to science, technology, medicine, etc. Look at the Abbasids based out of Baghdad or the Moors that ruled Spain for much of the time until 1492, for example. Of course, there were intolerant Muslims even then – look at the Prophet Mohammed himself, or the Almohads that ruled North Africa and Spain around the 12th century.

Pity that so many leaders in the civilized world have this very problem.

There are many glaring reasons why this is untrue, one is the very violent life of Mohammed. His violence was proactive in nature, which he used as a tactic to spread his ideology. The second is the Koran itself which has many open-ended violent passages that a “good” Muslim is instructed to follow if he wants to be considered a “true” adherent.

There have been over 27 thousand Islamic terror attack since 9/11. This link will lead you to a complete list. http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

Tell me how many terror attack can you document for other religions?

Bukhari (52:220) – Allah’s Apostle said… ‘I have been made victorious with terror’

Multiculturalist babble does not overcome facts. Islam is a killing cult.

You can read my thesis on it. I even leave you an easy method to prove me wrong. Here is a link. http://islamsfatalflaw.blogspot.com/

I didn’t say anything here. I am just quoting our experts. You will note that I cited more that speak of Islam as peaceful.
Which religion is currently brutal and violent?

It is a violent type of warfare which targets civilian populations in order to sew chaos and fear. There is no justification for terrorism. There is no religion which promotes it. There are no political, economic, or social reasons that justify terrorism. It is a choice of weak forces who cannot combat organized military forces directly.
Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and all traditions in between have adherents who justify violence in the name of deities or religious texts. This does not mean that the religious traditions are inherently violent. It means that bad people cherry pick texts and religious ideas that help recruit and sustain violent actors whose aims are nihilistic, violent, immoral, and evil. All religious communities have in the past (or continue in the present) resorted to inhumane violence against civilians in furtherance of earthly goals, with God as their excuse. Islam is not more violent than Christianity. Muslims who choose violence are as bad as Jews and Christians who use God as the justification for violence.
I think your continued campaign to impugn and devalue Islam as a uniquely violent tradition is historically in error and posits a clash of civilizations that assumes non Muslims are morally superior- a claim that can easily be refuted. In any event, such arguments do not make the world a safer place or a better place.
